I'm not sure about you but there seems to be a mountain of inspiration these days.  Granted they are the direct result of a historical attack on all things we hold dear at Monica Zanetti Designs.  Monica is first generation Mexican American and has witnessed, first hand, the challenges immigrants deal with.  In addition, Monica is the daughter of a real life "Rosie the Riveter."  Monica's mom worked at the shipyard and with the huge steel ships that docked in Alameda, California.  To boot, Jeremy's mom protested in the 60's, so there is no shortage of love for the resistance in our home.  Plus, having a daughter is also motivation enough to keep the fight going.

With that said,...

We make it no secret that Monica Zanetti Designs is firmly a proud supporter of all things #resistance and Women's rights.  Monica has featured her female heroes already on a couple shirts.  Namely, her now famous "Chingona" aka Rosie the Riveter and the recent addition - Frida!

However, we feel a need to bolster our Feminist line.  Senator Warren gave us our inspiration for some new designs that we're quickly working on finishing up.  Jeremy has a couple ideas which he's shared below.  I should note that living with Monica (this is Jeremy speaking) is such an inspiration.  Plus, I love to create my own artwork, just on a more digital level.  If you think these designs are worthy...

Work in Corporate America?

Buy a clever shirt from an online store?

Get a shirt from an event or conference?

If you answered yes to any of these then I'm sure you have a crummy shirt.  A shirt that is ten miles wide and barely long enough to cover your belly button.  Sad but true.  I mean, these shirts may look great at first. They may even fit at first.  But, all that changes when they are washed for the first time.  After the wash you'll get a oddly shaped nightmare that will only sit in a drawer or closet until it's given away.

Jeremy has dozens of these kinds of shirts.  No lie.  He's a bit of a packrat. Many of these shirts still even look good, but he won't wear them...

It's not everyday the fam loads up our family truckster and rolls 1400 plus miles.  But this past weekend, we did just that.  Not only did we drive the more than 1,400 miles, we also walked many more during the life changing Women's March last weekend.  I say life changing because being among hundreds of thousands of people unified in a cause is something I will never forget.  The chants, signs, and sounds of a sea of passionate people was simply incredible.  We kept talking about how it was the most polite crowd of protesters we had ever seen.  When thinking about attending, concern for our little one's kept rising to the top.  However, after experiencing it, I can safely safe I would do it again next wee...

Monica Zanetti Designs looks at 2017

December 29, 2016

Okay...want a fun history lesson?

When we started to talk about doing wearable art as an extension for Monica's business we knew things MUST be done with the utmost quality.  So that's what we did.  But first we needed to understand what it would take to pull Monica's colorful, unique, and deeply personal artwork and place it on something people could wear.  So we did what everyone does these days.  We hit the interwebs.  And, wouldn't you know it?  Turns out, Chicago has some excellent resources right very close to our home office! In all honesty, it is not so shocking but it was nice to have resources here at home!

After poking around we were able to hook up with a...

You know it's cold when you get a brain freeze and aren't enjoying a cold beverage!  Thanks to some Arctic winds we are right where good old Frosty the Snow Man likes it!  However, when it's time for Monica to brave the outdoors like she did over the Black Friday weekend.  And is now aiming to do over the next TWO weekends at the Oakbrook Holiday Market it isn't ideal.  But, you know what helps warm her heart?  Seeing you!  Our friends!  She has an adorable little Chalet in the middle of the beautiful mall.  She's even right next to Santa.

But you know what is really cool?  Monica is mobile!  She's been attending events from Roscoe Village to Evanston selling her merchandise at...

Wow - now that was a weekend and a half!  If you've been following along, you'll know this summer's festival schedule has been BUSY!  We rocked Fiesta Italiano in Chicago's Little Italy over the last four days!  You read that right - FOUR DAYS!  Best part was that we got to enjoy the festival with our friend and fellow vendor Heather of Tori's Bitty Bows!  She's just the best!  We've got a short break in our schedule until the next show but that doesn't mean our schedule is any less busy!  School is starting.  Commission work has been pouring in and we're always looking to add new products to our store - can you say Magnets?

Did you know Retro on Roscoe was our very first street festival?  Man, have we learned a lot since then.  That first show was all fast forward three years we offer mostly wearable art!  Jeremy enjoys this because it's much easier to pack and set up!  Even though he manages to cut himself every weekend!

Even better is it's in our hood!  No drive into another part of the city - just a few blocks!

Monica is excited to announce that she's going to join our favorite local State Representative - Ann Williams with an opportunity to give back to our very own Common Pantry!  While Ann will be helping collect donations, Monica has joined the cause by offering 10% of sales to anyone ment...

Today is the day!  Come say 'hi' today!  I'll be at the following spot from NOON until 4pm!
